8 Reasons to Consider a Summertime Family Session
Summer is just around the corner and the LAST thing you're thinking about are your 2016 holiday cards. And yet I can't tell you how many families are already telling me, we are soooo overdue for a family picture. I'll be in touch in the fall!
Did you know having a session in the summer actually has MORE benefits than the fall?
Here are a few reasons why you should book your family session today:
1. YOU LOOK AMAZING
Yes, you do. You have a glowing summer tan. You are in your best shape. You have more energy, too. (Besides, you get to wear that cute dress.)
Fall is suddenly crammed with a new school year, sports and other commitments. And gone are the carefree days of summer. In addition, fall is the busiest time of year for your photographer. Overall, it is more challenging to find a time to book your session for all involved.
3. KID FRIENDLY
Summer is easier on kids with bare feet, room to roam, and warmth. Fall brings red cheeks, frozen half-smiles, runny noses and "are we done yet" attitudes. In summer kids feel more comfortable and free to be themselves resulting in better, more natural portraits.
Lush trees, fresh blooms and green grasses provide a timeless background for those wall displays in your home.
There is a time of day right before the summer sun sets where the light is warm, golden and incredibly flattering on your skin. Compared to summer sun, fall sun shifts images toward more grayish, flat images. Summer skies naturally add warmth and depth to your pictures.
6. FUN THEMES
Summer allows your personalities to shine! What do you love to do together? Ice cream shops, beach strolls, roasting marshmallows or enjoying the state fair are examples of ideas to incorporate into your summer lifestyle shoot.
7. DAYLIGHT SAVINGS
With longer summer hours, your photographer has more daylight to work with. Come fall, sun sets early making weekends the only available time for pictures so photographer schedules fill up fast. In addition, fall weather is inconsistent every year. There are only about 2 magical weeks where the colors are at their peak making scheduling that "perfect day" tricky.
8. BRAGGING RIGHTS
Watch your friends scramble to get their holiday card done while you're popping yours in the mail. That's right. YOU ROCK!
